Ravens offseason outlook

This offseason for the Ravens is going to be interesting. the big 3, Ray Lewis, Bart Scott, and Terrell Suggs are free agents. Understandably you can only sign 2 of the 3 most liekly. And as much as i would hurt to lose one it is going to happen. Bart Scott is the most replacable. you have to re-sign Ray Lewis. He is the face of the franchise and is a future hall of famer, also the heart and soul of the defense and the team. Also Terrell Suggs has to be re-signed as well, he is very talented and is versatile and is still young, going to be 27 in 2009. It would hurt to lose Scott but he already took a hometown discount 3 years ago and you cant expect him to take another one, espically since he is going to be 29 next year. and he is already going to garner a lot of interest around the league. You can franchise one of them, but you have to have more priorities than LB if you are the ravens. The best young center in the league Jason Brown is a free agent, and going to demand big money. The release of Chris Mcallister makes it a little easier and a little bit more likely we will give Brown the money he wants, but puts us at another need position, cornerback. The departure of c-mac leaves a void filled in by samari rolle, who is going to be 33 in 09 and need a CB of the future. You could fill that hole by signing houstons dunta robinson or tampa bays phillip buchanon or even buffalos jabari greer. or draft a young future CB’s in vandy’s DJ moore, VT’s victor harris, or Wake Forest’s alphonso smith. another need is WR, derrick mason will be 35 and mark clayton is a #2 at best, even though he had a good 2008. the free agent class is thin, only standouts are antonio bryant, tj houshmanzadeh, bryant johnson and nate washington, as you can see, not great at all, so my advice is drafting a future #1, the WR draft class is the deepest in years, and at #26, a great one could fall to baltimore. Marylands darrius heyward-bey, north carolina’s hakeem nicks and maybe Mizzous jeremy maclin, which if one of them do, you have to take. Also OL and DL are thin, and you could use a young tackle, as willie anderson is going to be 35 as well in 09. OSU’s alex boone, Kent states Augustus Parrish and Illinois xavier fulton should be availiable in the 4th round. I wouldnt worry about drafting a DE in the draft, as there are solid young free agents in this years pool. Maybe a guy like Atlanta’s chauncey davis or Jets CJ mosley could be good fit’s in baltimores system. Whatever it is, Its going to be a active offseason for the ravens. and if it pans out well, it will set us up for a great 2009 season.
